By mySeniorSite Staff

You've been using a computer for years and like most of us, you're used to doing things a certain way. If you're ready to speed things up a bit, here's a few keyboard tricks that will help.

To minimize windows quickly – hold down the Win (the key with the windows logo on it)  + M keys at the same time.

Need to find a phrase on a website, in a document, or even in a file name on your PC? Ctrl + F will bring up a Find window in Windows XP and most programs.

To use your keyboard to copy and paste:

Highlight the text / item you want to copy, then hold down the CTRL + C keys to copy it.

Put your mouse pointer where you want to paste the text/item then hold down the CTRL + V keys. Bingo, there it is!

To open the “My Computer” folder directly from your desktop, hold down the Win key (the one with the windows logo on it) and tap E

Want to keep one web page open and go to a book-marked/ favorite page at the same time?

In Internet Explorer, hold down CTRL and tap N. A new web browsing window will open. You can refer to the current website in one window and proceed to your book-marked or favorite page in the other one.
