Test That Printer Before You Buy

By mySeniorSite Staff

If you are interested in buying a new printer, you should always test it before you actually buy it, but how do you do that?

The answer is simple – just ask one of the sales people at the store to run a test print for you.

Most printer display models are ready to print test pages, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. And, if they aren't, it's the store's responsibility to do that for you. You're the one buying the printer and you need to make sure you will be happy with it.

By doing a test print, you will be able to see the printer's overall quality and decide if it’s the quality you are looking for in a printer. It’s also important to hear the noises a printer makes.

Another consideration is the speed of the printer in terms of “pages per minute” (PPM). A laser printer that spits out 20 PPM may not always be as good as one that prints less pages but has other features such as quiet running and longer cartridge life.

The test print will also allow you to see the whole process of printing within that printer and you'll get to experience how it will work for you in your home.
