A Message From Mayor Ross
Forrest
of Lake Cowichan
|
| |
As the Mayor of
Lake Cowichan, I take great pleasure in inviting
you to visit our website and often at that and
better yet, come visit our beautiful town.
Lake Cowichan is located on Vancouver Island at
the eastern end of Cowichan Lake, which is 30
km. long and lies at an elevation of 168 m. We
are proud to be one of the Gateway Communities
in British Columbia with a new public highway
leading to the west coast of Vancouver Island
via Mesachie Lake to Port Renfrew and Sooke and
ultimately Victoria, BC.
Lake Cowichan is just 20 minutes west of Duncan
on Highway No. 18 and an hour away from
Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia,
via Highway #1. The world-famous heritage
Cowichan River flows from the Lake through the
town, emptying into Cowichan Bay on the east
coast of Vancouver Island The river is known as
Canada's Fly-Fishing capital and the lake is
used extensively for swimming, boating,
water-skiing, windsurfing, and fishing. Numerous
hiking trails and nature walks in the area
include the Cowichan River Footpath and the
Trans Canada Trail.
If you would like a quiet retirement or
semi-retirement community, come check us out. If
you have a business or light industrial
development in need of a location, we invite you
to contact us so that we can share in the
benefits of your locating in our beautiful
community. Lake Cowichan is open for business
and I have an "Open Door" policy. Come and see
me anytime on any issue or just drop in for a
visit. If you are just visiting, I am sure your
vacation here will be a most memorable one.
If you have any questions, comments, or
suggestions please do not hesitate to contact
the Administrator or
me by e-mail.
Sincerely,
Ross Forrest
MAYOR
