As
Mayor of the City of Colwood, and on behalf of the
City Council, I would like to invite you to visit our
beautiful city. You may not be aware of the fact, but
Colwood is the “Southernmost City in British
Columbia.” We are located in the Greater Victoria
region, approximately 15 kilometres from downtown
Victoria. Our neighbouring communities are Langford,
View Royal, and Metchosin.
Colwood incorporated as a City on June 24, 1985, and
has a land area of approximately 2,069 hectares. Our
population has grown to almost 15,000 and is expected
to reach 20,000 within the next few years. We are a
community filled with magnificent scenery and
gracious, welcoming people. Come discover for
yourself why Colwood is such an alluring community!
Experience
first-hand the high standard of community life we
enjoy. Colwood offers fantastic golf courses,
spectacular swimming, sports and recreation facilities
(including the new Bear Mountain Arena, a Velodrome,
and lawn bowling), library facilities, a 55+ Activity
Centre, and easy access to the Galloping Goose Trail,
and Havenwood Park – a “40 acre” park located on
Triangle Mountain. It also has many businesses that
provide the best service possible while catering to
the needs of our young families and senior citizens.
You
will find stunning attractions such as the Esquimalt
Lagoon, Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National
Historic Sites, Royal Roads University and Hatley
Castle. I urge you to visit our beautiful city and
spend time enjoying these focal points of the
community.
The
Council consists of a Mayor and six (6) Councillors,
and each one is ardently dedicated to their
constituents and the community. They play a
significant role in ensuring that community matters
are resolved in a way that is most beneficial to the
City and taxpayers. Council and City Staff welcome
your questions and we invite you to contact City Hall
at any time.
Yours Sincerely
Jody Twa, Mayor |
