Email Scam Warning
 
Consumers are once again being targeted by unscrupulous individuals sending email messages purported to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.
 
Unsolicited e-mails claiming to be sent from the CRA should be deleted immediately. Consumers should not follow any links listed in the e-mails as some of these sites contain harmful software or may attempt to solicit personal information from you.
 
The CRA says correspondence with taxpayers is traditionally sent through letter mail.
 
The following is a copy of the latest email making the rounds.

After the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 386.00
 
Please submit the tax refund and allow us 3-9 days to process it.
 
A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.
